Not a lot to report at the beginning of the week. Monday took the usual shape of admin, SMT and PT meetings and classroom observation. On Tuesday I met with our BM and then met with our Principal Arts Officer L. Smith and her colleague R. Baxter. It was a very useful discussion looking at the sustainability of the SOA artists in residence work. They have agreed to help us keep the momentum of dance going and to look for other options in the area of performing and creative arts. This is most welcome given the position we find ourselves in budget wise. Wednesday passed off as usual. On Thursday I met with K. Robertson to have a chat over lunch about the school. She also accompanied me to my DM with CDT to see what these meetings were about. This was particularly interesting as this department will be the next to take part in our Internal Review scheme. We also discussed our pre-STACS addition this year to look at the exam results in more depth and, in particular, to come up with the next steps. We were then meeting as a cluster but due to a water mains bursting affecting the primary and another two call offs it was agreed to postpone this until the following week. On Friday I spoke to the S6 at assembly about attendance and then headed off for a meeting in John Muir House with D. Ledingham, S. MacKinnon and representative from the SQA to have an open discussion about exams, CfE and certification. And now…the long weekend!
