The Bronze Duke of Edinburgh's Award is available to students in S3.

At present (academic year 2005-2006) there are 48 students working towards completing their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh's Award in Dunbar Grammar School.

To complete this section of the award you must take part in a:

• Physical Recreation
• Expedition

The Silver Duke of Edinburgh's Award is available to students in S4.

At present (academic year 2005-2006) there are 21 students working towards completing their Silver Duke of Edinburgh's Award in Dunbar Grammar School.

To complete this section of the award you must take part in a:

• Service
• Physical Recreation
• Expedition

The Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award is available to students in S5 and S6.

At present (academic year 2005-2006) there are 20 students working towards completing their Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award in Dunbar Grammar School.

To complete this section of the award you must take part in a:

• Skills
• Service
• Physical Recreation
• Expedition
• Residential

Here is a suggested kit list for a Duke of Edinburgh Award Expedition. Remember this list is provided for all levels of the Award Scheme and therefore you will need to think carefully about how long your expedition is to last. You should then adjust the kit list accordingly. Items that you can borrow from school are marked (S). Items that should be shared as a group are marked (G).

The skills section of the award scheme aims to encourage the discovery and development of practoical and social skills and personal interests. The participants should choose an activity and set themselves an appropriate challenge. They should follow the activity over a period of time and show progression in their choosen skill.
